Combining the esoteric, airy-fairy I Ching with ugly American politics has cost this blog readership for sure, but on we go nonetheless! And it must also be said that this Reading about Trump’s electoral prospects is unusually upbeat, even for the Yi which as presented in the classical texts clearly demonstrates a certain bias towards positivity. That being said, Huang’s well-grounded commentary rightly emphasizes how auspicious Hexagram #15 is generally regarded. Furthermore, the Past Influence of Grace or Elegance preceding Humility closely tracked what was widely regarded as Trump’s experience and demeanour, first narrowly escaping being martyred by a bullet passing less than an inch away from cutting his life force and then by having a stated desire to promote unity over division, to soften up his approach.
So the Hexagrams track the event well and are generally quite soft and positive. The Future Influence indicates that these changes in Trump’s character, destiny and the situation will endure and they lead into #37 Family – which can also be a nation or political party – enjoying good relations featuring both love and respect. And the Nuclear Hexagram expresses some sort of Relief after a storm passes, which also feels apropos to ongoing events. The Changing Line is pointed: act forcefully against enemies, specifically: “It is favorable to attack with force. Nothing that would not further.”
